Hi I know that there's another post like this one, but I want to see if anyone's interested in playing through the trilogy. Preferably someone who's patient with me, I'm not the best player

Hey there!
Yes, I would like to do a multi-player game with you, but the problem is that I don't know how to configure everything so that it works properly. I'm quite busy at the moment, so it won't be for the next couple of days. (gotta prepare for my exams) On top of that, I live in Europe, so it may be difficult concerning time zones and the like...
Aside from that, I just thought I would let you know. Maybe somewhere in the future? Like, late January or something? (I know it's kinda late...)
Anyway, hope you find someone fun to play together with!

Poof! Australia is a little bit on the other side for me. GMT +1 here, mid of nothing, Slovenia. I wonder if I will be able to play with any of you folks one day though. Could be cool.

I can totally understand busyness, and am in fact thinking of delaying this by another few months as well. Late January sounds awesome.
And d-l, it'd be great playing with you, I've read all your antics on these boards, it'd be hilarious to see it all unfold.

Hey, does anyone of you guys know how to configure settings for multi-player? Or, to say it with other words, how to start a multi-player game? I already tried it once, but failed miserably! 
I'd love to play a game with all of you, seriously, but exams first! See you later!

Why would it be fun to play with a modder, especially one as prolific on these boards as me? (Seriously, Irrbloss is a better modder.)

Basically, it is simple: if you are behind a router, you need something like Hamachi to give you an IP which actually finds you instead of your router.
Lower all firewalls, and make sure you have the same versions of the game (patches, ect), and you should be all set.
There is probably more, I just can't remember any of it. :/

Thanks for the help! I already knew I had to let the firewalls give BG access to the internet, though. But how do I know if I have the same version as the person I'm playing with? Just asking him/her? How do I even know what version I have? Too complicated for my poor brain...

I think if you follow that install list, in that order, it should work regardless of what version of BG you have. Just make sure you do a full install of everything.
EDIT: Of course, work only with others who have the same install list. If someone had G3 Tweakpack, you'd have to install that too to play with them.
Looking forward to hanging out with all of you! Ditto d-l, it'd be interesting playing with a modder.

I'm actually looking at engine versions, as the game will give an error if you have different ones.
Have you patched to the same patch? (This is the main cause of differing engine versions)
If yes, all likelihood is yes, you can play like that.
You usually will need to forward your Hamachi ports if using it behind a router, however.

1. Are you using hamachi?(if not, i can't join)
2. Is it roleplay?(i don't care ether way)
3. What level characters are aloud?

Will probably end up using Hamachi, as it seems everyone can use it.
Haven't decided on roleplay, but it's certainly an awesome idea. Will probably get a majority vote on this one.
Level characters as allowed by game rules, so all level caps in place, and unless we start from BG1, start at level given by game.
As for what classes... I'd like to say pick what you want, but a bit of negotiation may be required... we don't want 6 kensai->dual at 13 to mage!
This multiplayer game isn't aimed at power players, it's aimed for people who want to play with new people, and be accepting of mistakes and blunders (I know I'm going to make plenty!)
New players are welcome; as someone who has only ever completed the game with some sort of cheating, this is, in a very real sense, going to be my first run.

Ah, hell, Friday nights (7-8PM GMT onwards) are perfectly fine by me. As it is a Friday, I can stay up the 9hours difference for you.
