Ossian Studios, headed by former BioWare producer Alan Miranda, has crafted a huge, 25-30 hour NWN adventure called Darkness over Daggerford. Formally a Premium Module, this free adventure offers new creatures, features, strongholds, and more.

Wow! I knew there were more premium modules cancelled, but I'd never heard of this one. What I've read so far sounds great. Gonna play it right now! I still regret that Atari cancelled the premium module program, but a big thanks to all those involved for releasing it anyway... for free. _________________ Don't take life too serious. I briefly got to test an early unfinished version of this module before I got switched over to working on Jade PC and I was deeply digging it. There is some very well crafted story-telling going on here.
I'm really looking forward to giving the final version a play.

Cool. I wondered from time to time what became of Alan. Last contact we had (although I'm sure it's not memorable enough for him to recall) was when I was helping out track down a nasty stuttering glitch in BG2. Good to see he's out there still connected to the BioWare community and doing things fans will surely enjoy. Man, 25-30 hours of gameplay! _________________ And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad These dreams in which I'm dying, are the best I've ever had |

Whatever else the folks at Ossian receive for this offering, kudos definitely have to be given for the ultra-tight security on this particular project! Out of the blue, they have set the collective NWN community on it's ear, and definitely signalled that reports of the demise of NWN are, in a word, greatly exagerrated.. Shouldn't that read 'formerly' instead of 'formally'?
Sounds great, though. Will definitely have to take a look after work today. |

WOOT! Both Al the Great & Huggles are on the team! This was a wonderful surprise, and look forward to my many days of wandering FR that are hopefully ahead. _________________ Elhanan the Ancient One

Well met.
This is great, great news. Just like being told that Baldurs Gate III has been finished in secrecy. Thanks guys, thanks for all your effort, your skills, your talent, and just for wanting to make something of quality with a Baldurs Gate feel.
I'll download now, won't get a wink of sleep tonight as I lay and just think of the thrills that await tomorrow, will polish my armour, and start playing first thing tomorrow. A paladin has to get some beauty sleep, its a charism thing.
This is incredible. And yes, anything you guys make I'll buy just to show my support.
Blessings. _________________ Phyte. My strength and my heart have been locked for longer than I can remember. Sharwyn. Done, and done. |

I started playing it last night. I think it is fantastic. Really good scenes so far. I really like the conversations. I especially thought getting taken to the new town leader and getting threatened by him was pretty cool. I don't think he and I are going to be getting along very well.
*** Don't read this if you don't want a spoiler ***
I got to the eastern farms and went down into the hole and got dominated. It seems like the domination doesn't expire. I have been dominated for like 10 minutes or so. Is there anything I can do to break it or am I going to have to go to an earlier save.
Thanks for the help.Edited By Soltan Heatwave on 08/17/06 20:52 |

Thanks for the nice words about the mod and glad you're having a good time. The creatures at the bottom of the hole, the kochracons, are new to Daggerford I believe and were developed for us by a third-party. I'll forward your issue to the bug fixers and we'll try to resolve in the next update.
In the meantime you might want to consider going back to your first auto-save, perhaps the one before you entered the Eastern Farmlands. You should be able to run through that quest again, as I just played through that quest and couldn't reproduce the endless domination. Sorry for the inconvenience. Good luck with the rest of your adventure.

What is the character lvls? I know it said for lvl 8 characters...does this mean starting lvl is 8, and if so, what lvl does it potentially go up to? Thanks |

Yes, you can either bring in a Lvl 8 character of your own or the game will level up your Lvl 1 character to 8 and provide equipment suitable to your character class.
If you just complete the main quest you are probably looking at gaining 6 or 7 levels. If you play all the subquests, the guestimate seems to be around level 16 or so. However, feel free to bring in as high a character as you like as encounters spawn based on your character's level.
Hope that helps. _________________

Playing through this at the moment and loving it. It's a very stylish, fun and polished piece of work. Many congratulations to the whole team. I had sort of lost interest in NWN for a while, but this module is recreating the kinds of kicks I got playing through SoU and HotU - no mean feat.
SPOILERS One comment and one question, both about henchmen. 1. Reagan has the unfortunate property that if I remove her from my party she vanishes completely and I can't find her again. Literally disappears. Very strange. It doesn't happen with the ugly rogue henchman. I've checked that she's not in stealth mode before we part. 2. Does the gnome character I rescued from the maze become a henchman? I really expected her to, but she just ran off. I've just encountered Reagan and the ugly rogue. Is that it for henchies? END SPOILERS
Once again, many thanks and congrats. A superb and highly enjoyable adventure. |
