Nearly twelve moons ago we looked at a very impressive NWN persistent world that had gone to great lengths to create a unique experience for serious fans. Since then, Layonara has evolved to produce several new, innovative world features, and we revisit their work and introduce this realm to a new audience.

In January I was looking for an online game to get into after officially retiring from FPS (caffine twitch reflex is no match for 15 year-old innate twitching).
I was pondering on starting Planetfall when it went free but I came upon a link on Digg to the Top 10 Mods from a bunch of games and Layonara was on it.
Two months later, Planetfall's free and I couldn't care less.
It's a fun world where characters really do mold it's fabric in a very organic way and in another few months even more will change in the fabric of "reality." The world currently evolves around a few main PCs but us little guys also have a part in it.
Well, I fell in love with Layonara and its players, well worth your time if you have a lot of free time. If not, it's also worth it just for the interaction and stuff you can do in the game world.
Oh, one word of warning though, it's not a soloing world - you really do have to work in groups but it's very easy to start a party.
BTW, my character's in a few of the screenshots. Edited By Joana_Prado on 04/05/06 17:38 |

I arrived at Layonara in August of 2003. It wasn't until October that I mustered the courage to submit a character and join in with what I thought was a very intimidating group of RolePlaying Vets.
To my surprise I found the players to be not merely great at RolePlaying, but also to be friendly and helpful people. Leanthar and Co. have done a great job continuing to update the content in Layonara and running the massive number of quests that they do each month. However I must say, it's the players that have kept me there.
I forsee Layonara continuing with the main plot until it finishes and seemlessly shifting into another intricate story line, making a smooth transition into NWN-2 at some point in time, and maintaining it's brilliant atmosphere and knock-out player base.

I have a question for the Lyno staff. How often is a player required to play to maintian a good rp behavior for their char without the world shifting under his feat per say. I currently work with the admin an a more hack and slash server but always enjoyed PnP and like a good RP environ as well. I am interested in trying out the server but may only get on once every week or two. If that is fine let me know here and I'll start to work up bios.
P.S. From the interview both past and present. Your PW sounds great and I wish you the best of luck.

dragonzwrath, sure that's common amongst many of our community members, some are only weekend players, some only pop on an hour or two a day, but they still manage to maintain meaningful relationships and be involved in world events.
Also we try to integrate the RP within the forums so if you can't even get into the game world you can post message in the In Character boards and such.
Hope that helps. _________________ Layonara. Your Destiny Awaits. http://www.layonaraonline.com |

Is June sixth, two thousand five about twelve moons ago? 'cause that's when I heard of Layonara. The server I have been on for ages is a great place, but I haven't had much time to explore the rest of the world. (I think I've only explored close to one-fourth of the main server.) _________________ Have I confused you? |

The first time Layonara was looked at was just after version 2 came out i believe. There were a couple phases, I think. Layonara Online has definantly been out for quite a while. It's just gotten better and better as time passed. |
