We chat with folks from the Neverwinter Nights persistent world of Arelith, which began as small project between friends and grew into a huge, dynamic world for role-players. ~ Heads-up for NWN fans: there's only a week and a bit left to vote in the BioWare Writing Contest.

For the curious, here's the latest top 5 rankings of modules. It's been fairly exciting this last week, with a fair amount of changes other than the top 2 (which have been static for the last month or so).

Every vote counts!

I've never taken part in one of these discussions but I'm guessing that we talk about the world mentioned in the lates issue of Bioware Wensday.

I have never spent more than an hour or so on Arelith since I am busy with Iperoth, the PW I recently became the leader of and play on during my free time. Thus I cannot post anything in depth about Arelith but I can speak of the relationship Arelith and Iperoth have.

I do not know how many of the people on Arelith are aware of our relationship with Jjjerm, their gracious leader, Iperoth's kind host.

All I can say is that Iperoth had been largely unsuccessful when Jjjerm's wife first logged onto Iperoth, and through doing so, gave life to a wonderful friendship, when we were forced to find a new host, he was there for us. This was only the begining of a relationship that I value, one that trancends the petty competition that is often seen in the world of NWN PWs.

He gave us advice, allowed us to visit his world in order to, possibly, get ideas, and offered us the aid of Arelith scripters, when Iperoth did not have any.

When I visited the world of Arelith, I was stunned. The world, without the use of haks, was visually a work of art. From what I know of the world, through word of mouth and my few visits there, I can tell you that it is an amazing world with wonderful people.

It is my hope that Iperoth's relationship with Arelith will always be one of friendship and sharing (advice, resources, ect.).

As I close this post I would like to thank Jjjerm for his kindness and I wish only the best for Arelith in the years to come. You folks who play on Arelith have a gem, may it continue to sparkle through the relentless passage of time. I hope that none of you take it for granted because it is not easy to build and maintain a world, especially one like Arelith.

No one knows it better that Jjjerm and everyone who helps him keep it going. Make sure that their time and effort is not wasted, promise that you will activly do your part to keep it the place you love.

It is not just the folks who build, run and maintian the world who direct its path in the grand scheme. In the past few weeks I have seen a stream of people come to Iperoth from a server that has lost its way, I don't ever want see that people are leaving Arelith because of a loss of spirit, vision and all the aspects that make Arelith wonderful.Keep Arelith great, keep that gem beutiful.

This is everything I have to say about the PW I have so much respect for. Jjjerm and all of you at Arelith, I salute you.

Respectfully,

Karegador.

I spoke the truth. It was your advice that inspired to me to mobilize the DMs in a redefinition of Iperoth. You have been kind enough to keep Iperoth running on your server, and you have even offered us the resources of Arelith.

In my mind, this is the kind of relationship that we see to little of in the NWN community. I don't know what a world has to achieve before being given this honor but I feel that Arelith has been deserving of this honor for a long, long time.

What I saw of your world was amazing beyond my wildest dreams. What I saw on the boards was a community of wonderful people who loved their world.

Now, thanks to your advice, encouragement and help, I am starting to Iperoth blossom into such a place. There is still alot of work to be done on Iperoth before we can even begin to get close to what you achived and believe me, that is a goal worth reaching for.

As I said, I have deep respect for Arelith and the people who made it the place it is. Keep it up.

I haven't played NWN for about a year and a half now and I, through moving, lost my old software package. I wasn't really concerned with this as I figured that I wasn't going to come back to NWN any time soon. This was true up until this morning when I read the news article about Arelith: I went directly to the Arelith forums, read all of the rules and digested about half of the available lore (I'm still working on the other half). I also, on my lunch break at work, sacrificed a balanced meal to go out and purchase NWN and the three expansions again (don't worry, I still had lunch, it was just during work-time).

I don't usually do these types of rash things, so I hope it will be worth it. I'm wondering, however, how many players on average you have on your server at any one point. From what I've read on your forums, it seems pretty active.

Thanks for re-igniting my roleplaying spirit, I hope to join Arelith soon, after I finish reading the lore and such. I want to be a well-informed member of your community.

Arelith has been there since the beginnings of NWN.

We've seen them slide up and down the list of most active mods and its great to see they still mean business.

Our PW Dor Maeglin even now, has a merchant called Oneday. I think they're based around a few items Oneday created quite some time ago.

Its really quite impressive how Arelith has maintained their no hak policy, its worth a look. Great job guys I hope to see you throughout NWN2 as well
