Suppressing my tendency to nitpick statements in the interview, I hope he really means that the level playing field in the contest is going to remain level for prospective employment. But that's getting ahead of myself. I have to prove I'm worthy of the top eight first.

What exactly is gratuitous exposition?

Gratuitous exposition would be any long-winded speech by a character that doesn't have the context to justify its existence. There is such a thing as a very long piece of exposition that's justified within the context of the game, but writers have a tendency to make their characters speak in mini-essays, simply because that's what often what they do in response to questions, in writing essays, etc.. However, such things rarely fit a character. A clever writer can figure out a way to justify a needed, long-winded speech. A bad writer creates a series of situations so that his characters can make some long-winded rant. Keep in mind that, like all rules of writing, they're far from hard and fast, but if you're going to break them, you better have good reason.

It's when characters go blah blah blah blah and you skip everything they're saying. Or it might be full frontal nudity. Not sure which.

Greetings,

Where do contestants post their completed writing contest submissions for review? Is this detail still being worked out with the Vault?

Also…
Will contestants need to fill out and send in a Submission and Disclosure Agreement?
(Form PSA-2020)

And finally…
Do the submissions for this contest require the competition number listed under general submissions and applicants? (Authors Name, 05-WD-WR, module title”.

Sincerely,
WB

Greetings All,

A few questions concerning the writing contest…

Would a contest entry that is not based in Faerun and the Forgotten Realms be considered a non Neverwinter Nights Module?

Should the mini adventure be based in Faerun and the F.Realms? Requiring settings, names and faces of the F. Realms.

Would an adventure based on your own creation and setting be discouraged?

Thank you,

Seeking clarification,

NB
