No skill use? So no Persuade or Charm Person or such? Just straight up dialog choices as far as that's concerned? _________________ "True glory consists in doing what deserves to be written; in writing what deserves to be read; and in so living as to make the world happier for our living in it." - Pliny the Elder |

3500 words.. now, is that for the entire module or for any particular route of playing it?

Oh, this brings up another question. Are journal entries encouraged or irrelevant? If encouraged, do they count against the 3500 words? _________________ "True glory consists in doing what deserves to be written; in writing what deserves to be read; and in so living as to make the world happier for our living in it." - Pliny the Elder |

Ace questions on a better 3500 word count definition and the use of journals. I'll check with our resident BioWare A-thor-i-tie Kevin B and see what he has to say. |

Should any documentation be provided on how to achieve the multiple endings?
Also ...
Is the CEP allowed? Are other hackpacks allowed? Any limits on cutscenes?Edited By Deemz on 11/30/05 21:05 |

Whoa. Making a small module like that that's also fun and interesting sounds like a nice challenge... In fact, I've suggested making one-area story-bound modules like this before (because I feel there's just too much travelling in all of the fantasy stories in general ) but few people took the bait. Hopefully this contest will get people interested in making really small modules again.
Though, I won't be participating because a) too lazy to reinstall Windows to run the toolkit, and neveredit doesn't quite work yet and b) prospect of working for a company on the other side of the world isn't quite my kind of a thrill. _________________ - Weyfour WWWWolf "Thou art a thief and a scoundrel. Hi,
I'm thinking about partaking in this contest, however I have a question or two.
Scripts are obviously needed in this module (Mostly tiny ones to help the conversations), right?
And last but not least. Does the 3500 word count also include: journals, items, NPC descriptions and placeable descriptions?

Here are some answers to questions. We will be updating the contest page with these details soon:
1) The writer can use Persuade or Charm, but not as a character skill-based game action. Rather, simply provide the (success) and (failure) options right in the dialogue box, so that they can be explored by the reviewer, not “played through”.
2)3500 for the entire module. This is not a hard word count…it should be the writer’s target. The actual word count can come in a little high or low and this will not affect the review of a really good piece of writing.
3)Journal entries are encouraged. They should be short and simple. They count against the word limit. |

Aha! I guess I'll have to find a work-around for those "non-conversation" texts then.
By the way, Jay; I suppose the scripts for furthering conversations should be left out as well (For the sake of being able to explore the rest of the conversation)?
In other words; the following example can't be created (Due to the lack of localValues).
Example: Bob- "Ahh, Tim, did you visit Luc yet?" Tim- "Of course I did!" Luc- "Yes, Tim stopped by earlier."
