Charlie Stross invented our beloved githyanki and slaadi. Not only is he an award-winning author, he's also an NWN fan. Read Mr. Stross's thoughts on D&D, computer games, writing, and gadgets.

I can't believe the interviewer didn't ask what "semiotic diverticulosis" meant. Maybe has some kind of google powered active vocabulary.
Hmmm... semiotics, study of signs; diverticulosis... disease of the stomach and/or colon involving small, inflamed (bloated!) sacs (of protoplasm!).
The signs are not the signifiers disease?
I really must listen to my friend who's been championing this bloke's stuff for the last couple years. |

I don't know if I'd go as far as to call him a NWN "fan" exactly. He's obviously played, and enjoyed himself. But his career has (understandably) kept him from reaching the level of obsessive "fandom" (if I can be excused for using such a non-word) that many of us NWN geeks have reached. His interest is a good sign, but we need to devise some devious method through which we can corrupt him into the glorious world of expanded and custom content.. BWAHAHA!!
Seriously, though. This article was just plain cool. Whether or not he qualifies as a true NWN "fan" is really a moot point. He is one of the creative minds involved in the original AD&D/D&D, and that makes him someone that the rabid (albeit, less famous) fans can truly enjoy hearing from.
Congrats on another great interview, BioWare! |

He'd definately a fan - If I remember right he nearly missed a deadline whilst getting sucked into a NWN game.
And I doubt we'll ever suck him into the content creation, etc. He doesn't generally use anything that isn't powered by an open source OS
I really enjoyed the interview actually - I made a brief attempt at getting him online (very, very brief), but then realised that if it was a choice betwixt getting new books, or getting another person's life ruined by NWN...
I'm afraid I was greedy and went for books!
BTW - If you like SF, you need to read Charlie's books. If you like Cthulhuesque romps, read Charlie's books. If you like Fantasy/world travelling, read Charlie's books...
