I'm looking for suggestions as to what Mod to try next for BG2. I've played through the main game 8 or 9 times, and while I think it's great, it's a little less fun when you always know what enemy is coming up next. I've also played The Darkest Day, which for the most part I like except it's not as well balanced; you get a little too powerful too fast.

I'm only looking for mods that add quests, not mods that deal mainly with NPCs or Romances or make the game easier or harder than it usually is. Still, there seem to be a number of choices: Souls over Soubar (perhaps with the Big Picture), Epic Endeavors, Return to Trademeet, perhaps Unfinished Business, and some others.

Which ones have people tried, and which ones have they liked the best? Which ones are the most/least buggy?

Thanks in advance.

Well, so no one else wants to, I'll take a stab at this one...
I think your one-stop shop for nearly all mods is under the modlist at pocketplane.net. There are 235 different mods there (I just checked), you just pick the ones you want and install them. Nearly all are Weidu compatable, meaning that if there are parts of the mod that you don't like, you are given the option to not install that part during the set-up. In my game I have nearly 50 mods and have only had two dialog problems, and neither of them were gamebreakers, just minor annoyances. Those are easily, easily overlooked by the fact that downloading and installing these mods have made this game so very playable and enjoyable for over four years.
Other excellent sites in no order of preference are gibberlings3.net, blackwyrmliar.net, weidu.org, chosenofmystra.net and spellholdstudios.net. I'm sure there are others out there, but these are the ones that I look to the most often.
The ones I like the best are from Weimer's site (weidu.org) which are the Ease of Use, Item Upgrade, and Spells 50. Also UB. And Kelsey. And I really like Chloe.

If you look for something big maybe Region of Terror (like The Darkest Day, but this one is even biger) could be a good solution (I've just started it). Plot is solid in my opinion > find Drizzt's kidnaped friends (he joins you as NPC at the Irenicus dungeon exit). The only problem is that it doesn't support ToB and official patches (it means no highlight on TAB key, X appears busy.....).

As Scott mentioned, mods like UB, EoU, Spells 50 are very good and compatibile with almost anything.

I installed Dungeon Be Gone, UB and few options from EoU (faster custcenes, multiple strongholds) after installing RoT and it's working.

Your post stated that you were looking for mods that added quests, not NPCs or romances (I can't seem to post text as quotation; otherwise I would). I have a couple specific suggestions:

1). Pocketplane has a "Quest pack" mod that adds some neat quests to the game.

2). Unfinished Business is excellent and adds several quests. It is also located at Pocketplane.

3). The Tactics mod has several components that add new quests and battles to the game.

None of my suggested mods add a large amount of material to the adventure as I tend to stay away from those type of mods, such as the Darkest Day, et al.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.

For the most part, I already knew about the webpages. It's just that there are so many to choose from, and it's such a hassle to re-install the game, I was looking for what people thought was the most worthwile.

Region of Terror sounds really great, though I have a hard time imagining not installing ToB. I usually play solo, or with 1 or 2 NPCs only. We go up levels fast, and really look forward to getting those HLAs; sometimes they're our only hope.

Any other thoughts?

If you've never played IWD, you could try Neverending Journey which (in its initial, released portion anyway) is a partial conversion that adds pretty much that entire game to BGII.

There are some bugs though.

You might want to try refinements. It adds new hlas to every class and kit. Virtue sucks, it just has way too many bugs.
