The CEP team has just released the much anticipated Community Expansion Pack! Once you download the free CEP you can use it to run any CEP-compatible modules. If you have never used custom content before, don't worry: the CEP does not affect your NWN game installation. It's simple and takes minutes to install. You will be amazed at what it can do for the look and feel of you game. The CEP also contains a fully playable module, so you can try out the new content right away. Be sure to check out the CEP trailer for a guided tour as well.

With the inclusion of so many NWN: Hak Packs, this looks great.
Everything else on top is gravy.
If any issues are caused b/c of this thing, where should we talk about them? On this board? This Thread? |

Much congrats, CEP team! Thank you for your time, hard work, energy and effort!
I was among the first to download the pack VERY early this morning, and have already started building a new module with the CEP integration. There is a HUGE amount of GREAT stuff in here... It's going to make building modules so much more enjoyable, having access to resources to make the module be so much closer to what I actually intend it to be.
While I've seen a great deal already (Creatures, human heads, some placeables, and the brownie), I believe I've only seen about a third of what the CEP has to offer. This ROCKS!
...and the *documentation*!!! I am *SO* impressed!Edited By MacGamer on 03/24/04 19:59 |

I can't get it there, either, at www.nwncep.com.
IT is available here, also: http://nwvault.ign.com/cep/downloads/ |

Are there any mirror sites? I'm getting some messages and e-mails from my players that they are not getting the whole file from the Vault link. Only about half. I had no trouble, so I bet its traffic on the Vault. |

All the content that I've played around with so far is very well done. Thanks to all who participated, both the CEP team and the original authors, your tireless efforts have resulted in a finished product that is truly a pleasure to work with. As expected, it is the standard I will now use in all my mods, and will be the only hak I make use of other than the fantastic alleys hack that came out last year.

I'm a little disappointed in the selection and choices of the content of this hak. I commend the work involved, and know all too well how hard it is to create haks, especially large ones, so take is as simple constructive criticism. Here are my gripes on the CEP though:
1) Creature selection choices: I guess it's a matter of personal taste and preference but I wonder why the inclusion of so many bovines and other mammals. Theres 20 bovine creatures alone (cow/buffalo/bison/etc) and while it's nice to have variety, I think many other custom models could have been used to better fill in this space. Also, there are tons of little rodents like squirrels, mice, wolverines, minks, ferrets, 6 different pigs, etc. At some point, these all look the same and I think could have been cut back.
2) Oriental additions: There seemed to be a huge inclusion of Oriental custom content. Why this was done, I'm not sure and in the same vein wonder why D20 modern custom content or other thematic content wasn't added in equally as much. Why not also add anime haks as well?
3) Forced Toolset Blueprints: I think it would have been much nicer to see the creature, placeable, and item blueprints be optional and not in the mandatory 2da hak. I think this point will stand clear with many builders who may not want to have their toolset filled with all these non-changeable creatures, items, and placeables. Although there is an easy fix of physically removing all the *.uti, *.utc, and *.utp files from the 2da HAK which I recommend doing, this shouldnt have been the case.
4) Broken shadows: Seeeing a lot of these with the custom heads and even some weapons as well as other choices in the College module alone. I thought it was the choice of the CEP to only include 100% working placeables, weapons, etc into the haks? The problem I'm talking about is related to broken vertices in the models causing shadow lines to spike off the models most evident in some custom heads.
5) Overall choices. I'm not terribly impressed with the total choices of items, placeables, creatures, and overall content. For example, there are no custom doors but there are light sabers for weapons, incomplete clothing options for some models (custom clothes on dracon), overuse of Oriental content, very high polycount object choices, many weapons available to wrong classes, etc, etc.
For those single-player module adventures, I would recommend novice builders use this hak. For anyone experienced with the toolset, I would have to say there are many other better choices available, already made, and offering not only the same choices but many more that use *.erf's instead of forcing you to use their custom pallette choices. I fully understand and see the result the CEP was trying to achieve, I just can't help but feel a little sad for the finished product and wonder how well it will be used. I'm sure many people will come to use it, but they could have saved so many man hours by using some of the other already complete haks out there which are just as good and IMHO offer a much better selection of choices. Alas, the beauty of NWN and the toolset and that people can and will likely continue to do just that. |

I agree with Montaque completely, I'm a bit let down by many of the incompatabilities the CEP seems to cause for already existing modules and how it totally murders the existing armor sets and the sex specific bits of armor that result in invisible bodies and whatnot for the opposite gender.
And, being a single player person myself, and being against modifying the main data files for the risk of breaking them with my lack of Toolset skills, I would have loved to have the new heads and portraits in the official campaigns. _________________ My sandwich is crying... Mine winked at me! |

Bah. There's some growing pains, maybe, but overall, I was quite amazed by even the demo module. At least they have a some sort of patching ability and some kind of commitment to fix bugs.

The CEP affects existing modules? If so, that sounds like a bug. As far as I know, the CEP overrides no default Bioware content.
Unless the module you're referring to uses a hakpak, in which case you will indeed have to adjust a bit. _________________ You are so convinced that you believe only what you believe that you believe that you remain blind to what you really believe without believing you believe it. |

I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but where do I find CEP-compatible modules?
I've never installed any modules, so how do I do that?
