Munchkins are people too. We think. So, for all you power mongers, we have a special treat. Check out these epic characters, built ground up from level one to forty by community uber-moderator, Christian "Torias" Gillott, tweaked for cosmic power. This week, we feature the Divine Warrior and the Reliable Archer, complete with downloadable character files!

These are nice builds, but what I'd really like to see is an epic shifter build of some kind, something that allows a shifter to use their different abilities, and still survive to do it all. _________________ "There is no knowledge that is not power" --- Ralph Waldo Emerson |

Patience. The blurb says this that these are this week's characters. There may well be more.
I just wish I could actually check them out, but will have to wait until I get a chance from home as the NWN sites are blocked by our firewall here at work. _________________ "Speak softly and carry a big stick." - Theodore Roosevelt, January 26, 1900

The characters look good on the stats though
P.S. Added space in url as was getting a "Could Not Submit: Message contains word with too many characters without a space. Please check your message" without it |

Hmm... Reliable Archer looks pretty much the basic AA build me and other people have posted. Only thing that set's it aside (ASIDE not ABOVE) from the others is that he decided to take the fighter for better AB & +3 Damage (through weapon specializations) and a -1 AB & Damage for 25 Spellcraft (he misses the 29th AA level compared to the most builds taking it... Which gives you the last +1 AB & Dam).
What this build wins in AB (not sure how much), Dam (+6), feats (4 pre-epic combat feats, 1 epic weapon specialization) and +3 Saves (U can get 10 Spellcraft if you take the 1 wiz level at lvl 10) compared to mine (1 Wizard/10 Monk/29 Arcane Archer) is monk speed and deflect arrows (and, if utilizing Zen Archery, lose 1 more AB and get lots of AC. In case it isn't bugged as some say it is.). Now I know that this doesn't sound like much, but personally I prefer to be as far from the enemy as possible when I shoot at them. Reliable Archer can't outrun enemies, which as an archer MIGHT be deadly .
Overall good, decent powergamer build.
Oh, and Torias, U could give a little credit to those who gave you the ideas when U post our builds to the community
Allthought I admit that none of us (as far as I remember) posted Arcane Archer using fighter levels (mostly because that's the easiest way... I for one like trickier builds, with more complicated bonuses )

Check the Sticky thread : "Looking For Excellent Builds version 3.0". That's where the ideas come from (thread started by Jay Watamaniuk). There are three of them, the first two accessible from the first page of the version 3.0.
There are atleast 3 three builds that use shapeshifting abilities in the threads: My version of the Dragon Druid (the first one) using Monk & Druid, someone else's version (second one, sorry, don't remember his name. He's the one who named it Dragon Druid) and a Shifter who specializes in Rakshasa shape. I don't remember exactly where these three are to be found, but they should be somewhere in the version 2.0 thread, in the middle(?). _________________ "Lavamancers use three aspects of magic to make a golem: Transmutation; to mold the golem, Necromancery; to bind a soul to control the golem, and Evocation; to blast the damn thing on fire." - Jushak Firestone - Grim Lavamancer |

Shame that the only thing that seems that we look foward to for this weeks news was how to build powergaming characters. Is this the direction that Bioware wish for the players of the game to take now? |

no, bioware wednesday things often feature things that are only of interest to a particular segment of the nwn community.
also, the feats marked with a * are ones that are not critical to the character's structure, but can be replaced with a different feat if the player desires... however for simplicities sake, don't replace an optional feat with one that will be mandatory later on...Edited By Torias on 03/03/04 21:35 |

Hey, we powergamers are pushed around all the time in the forums (Some "RP" players even came bothering us in our thread dedicated for the build ideas for these posts... Come on people, it's not the BUILD that decides is your character roleplayable, it's how you actually ROLEPLAY the character ), and we've waited for these posts for couple of months (?) already. Hope they give the original builders credit, thought
Why do some "RP" players think that only gimbed characters are roleplayable anyways? Half-Orc (pure) Wizard doesn't sound like a "deep character". It sounds like very poor career choice. Or how about a wizard who throws his AoE spells so that they hit him too , just because he "miscalcutes in the thick of battle". Yes, someone posted this as "an interesting RP character". Good for few laughs, yes, but if I were a wizard and almost killed myself with AoE spells even only like 3 times a week, I would be too freaked out to cast those in the rest of my life... And this was to be trademark of the build...
Now don't misjudge me, I like RPing. But I like to do it with characters that don't die in an instant just in the name of being supposedly more roleplayable compared to their more... Shall I say "destined" collegues. With "destined" I mean that they see their strong sides and decide to use them to their fullest, instead of uselessly trying to be something they were never meant to be. For example, a sickly and weak but intelligent character is destined to be a wizard. Otherwise his adventures would most likely end his life rather quickly. _________________ "I'm a powergamer. Last week's information was about a briefer into CEP, which probably isn't interesting for those who are just interested in playing simple modules.
BioWare have content appealing to different communities each week for the BioWare Wednesday, as you've no doubt probably noticed. Next week there will probably be something which appeals to a different community of people.

The reliable archer isn't bad but as noted up above the 29th level of AA is quite useful for another AB + Dmg, but I would rather replace those fighter levels with cleric levels. on the surface you lose 3 AB and the weapon spec. feats but with the spell Divine power you get that AB back, this combined with the other cleric abilities make it a better build in my opinion |
