Good move.

I think this will go a long way in helping some people who want to try NWN multiplayer, but have not. NWC allows scheduling for all sorts of NWN's games, and is of course the homebase of NWCon!

It is great to see this finally show up on Bioware's site. I have been using this service for quite some time now, and I find that it is impossible to play online without it. The best thing about the site is that you know ahead of time who you are going to be playing with. Some of the worst sessions I've played in were with anonymous players through GameSpy. What a horror! With NeverwinterConnections, you can schedule a game in advance, then let players apply to join the game. You can interview them and see what kind of players they are based on a rating system. If, for example, a particular player has been late to game sessions in the past, don't let them play. As a DM, this is invaluable to get a good set of players that you know will be in your campaign for the long haul. I just can't say enough good thngs about this site. Everyone should try it out. If you don't see a game you want to play in, it is quite easy to schedule one yourself. Have fun, I do!

I have no idea why Bioware took so long to give the lifeblood of their online P&P gaming community the exposure it needs on the front page. Hopefully people will now take an interest, visit the main NWC site and try out some of the games - then they'll know what they've been missing all this time; the true beauty of Neverwinter Nights!

I've been playing NWN since it came out, but have gotten involved in NWC since the first NWCon last October, and have got to say it is the absolute *richest* experience I've had playing NWN -- and I've really enjoyed some of the great modules for single-player out there, tried some fun multi-player via IRL-connections -- but I'll go even further and say that NWC games have been my best gaming experience online or on a computer of any kind. I have only limited pnp experience, and that long ago, but have clocked plenty of varied crpg and mmorpg hours (days.... months... years...)

All I can say bottom line is that IMO you just can't beat the combination of multimedia tools in the hands of multiple imaginations all firing off in unexpected, multifarious ways -- wrap all that up in an excellent scheduling and community-tools system well-honed for matching up like-minded playstyles and dm-teams, so that the only limits are juggling timezones (which can be managed when you're planning it ahead to begin with) and what you've got is: NeverWinter Connections.

....

This has been a test of the emergeNWC broadcasting system. If this had been a real emergency, the scream you are about to hear would be followed by many others not nearly so linguistically discernible:

NEVERWINTER CONNECTIONS ROCKS! TRY IT OUT OR REGRET YOUR LOSS FOR A VIRTUAL ETERNITY OF NOT-QUITE-AS-AWESOME GAMING!

*crawls back into his strange little hole in hopes that nobody with exceptionally good aim sees where he went*

For those that might not know what NWC is and does here is a small sample of the services offered (all free by the way)

Scheduling Service - Schedule your games via NWC and Timezone calculations are automatic

Application Process - Screen prospective players for your games

Search feature - Search a game based on date, time, etc (I admit I don't use the search feature much)

Vibrant (and Newly redesigned) Forums - Post messages advertising your game, look for players, DMs, Talk about building, etc. *New* Private forums for games and Campaigns!

IRC Channel - Chat live about NWN, NWC, private channels for Pre and Post Game chat.

I notice not every game for a particular day is not listed on the sidebar, but I don't notice the logic as to what determines that a game be listed on the bioware site here..

NWC is a cool site, be warned though it's not newbie friendly, nor is it easy to break in with the veterans either. What it is good for is with a lil reserch you may be able to find a group that fits your style

But I have to disagree - I started playing last September without having any idea about Dmed games and how it would all work - I'd roleplayed before in MUDs etc, but this was my first taste of anything online in terms of Neverwinter Nights.

The procedure is simply this:

1/ You look at the site, and you see there is a large amount of information. But of course the first thing you do is register like any site, and then it will ask you to set your time zone.

2/ As soon as you do this, your name goes into a large mentee list and within 24 hours, you are taken under the wing of a mentor - this person is an experienced player/DM who will then answer all questions you have as well as help you take your first steps. Your own personal guide!

Even without the mentors help which is always there, you see clear lists of games running with a schedule of what games are running which days of which ones are 'invite only' (these are campaigns that have started and thus are not taking on new players since they are full), application games which you send an application for stating your character and his personality (questions are very clear, you just anwer the question) and finally open games where you can immediately join.

Once you send your applications off (one click on game page and fill in box with info!), you will then hopefully get accepted into games (lots of DMs are giving new players priority now, especially since Bioware has given more exposure, we are having lots of influx of new blood and if you put an effort at all into your application and look enthusatic youre bound to be in)

and the game page will tell you the time and date of the game and even provides a pregame chat room - you simply enter 15 mins before the game and chat with everyone.

The DM for those games of course will answer all queries as well as your Mentor about technical questions about logging in etc. I am not sure how much more easy this could be really - obviously the playerhas to make some effort to read and look through the web site, but if if they don't intend to do that, how will they last through a two to three hour roleplaying type game? And after one or two games, that'll be it - you'll have the ropes!

I hope everyone takes a look - its simple and easy - here is a short blurb from a post-game conversation I had from someone who had only played persistant worlds and played their first DM game yesterday:

Player: I had such an amazing time - I can't believe it. Thank God I applied and tried this out.

Me: I told you you'd have fun - welcome to the light and the true beauty of NWN, DMed games

Player: I'm an acolyte - no question, Ill be doing this from now on
---
I let that player in specifically because he said he was a PW player - I knew that I'd have him the very second he experienced it. Theres no comparison for anyone that loves immersion to this level!

Take a pepsi challenge to any other form of NWN gaming for anyone that likes roleplaying even a little bit. Come visit and stay forever I think
