Remember the young Lord Nasher battling the minotaur in the opening cinematic of Neverwinter Nights? Well, he's a wee bit older now, and several important and magical pieces of his equipment have gone missing! Finding these items is a fun mini-quest in Chapter 2 of Hordes of the Underdark.

Set Items... now where dit I see this before

When I first played the OC, I didn't realise the items were part of a set. When I discovered it, I was already near the end of chapter two.

Doh!

I discovered it and found all the items, but much to my chagrin, I also found my henchmen couldn't get the bonus from having them all. Since they weren't very useful for me (I play a wizard and have other items I prefer), I just sold em. Kinda anti-climactic....

Well blow me away: "young Lord Nasher battling the minotaur in the opening cinematic". I did not know that was the story. I always wondered what that opening movie was about. Now a few questions:
1-Why was Nasher stalking the minotaur?
2-How did the minotaur know Nasher was coming (it is obvious that the minotaur was in ambush mode)?
3-Is there any history of the graveyard?

This would be a great module to make someday.

I was a rogue so most of those items did not appeal to me either. I found two of them but never really set out on a quest to find them.

I had no idea what the minotaur thing was all about, that's pretty cool I guess it is nice to know about it...

What bonus do you get from collecting them anyway?

They become REALLY special if you find and wear them all. And they can be used in special locations as well. Don't want to give too much away.

Obviously there are as many "Nasher items" as described in the Bioware Wednesday. 4 I believe: Ring, Boots, Cloak, Gauntlets.

And I aswel would like to know more about the Nasher history. Mm well maybe if Bioware decides to go with that "download a module for a few coins" we could get it. Hopefully they'll make a Nasher story mod for that service. -> Hint hint

In 3rd chapter of HOTU there is a battle with some of our past 'friends' (one of them being a certain dwarven monk, you know ). With them is a minotaur and his description says that he killed Nasher's wife and was hunted and slain by him. Maybe that's what we see in NWN intro, hmm?

Another great example of Bioware spending alot of time and effort on a really neat mini-quest that affects a small percentage of characters divided by the number of players who searched every corner of the game to find it divided by the amount of players who even knew it was anythng important (Total 0.0052%) and just sold them 2 mins after finding them.

And they wonder why we complain about spending thier "Precious time" fixing simple yet catastrophic bugs and/or tweaks to the game that would amount to hours and hours of enjoyment as opposed to spending vast amounts of time on all the "hidden" parts of the OC that affects such a small percentage of players. It's like they gear alltheir hard work and quests as a "Reward" for people who systematically search every corner of the map and flip through every option in every NPCs conversation methodically (Ya that's Bioware's version of "Roleplaying"). They should just provide some "direction" to talk to a certain NPC at least and make the quests almost "in your face" as you go through the module. Everyone I know who played the module felt that there was very little too it but then find out that are 152 mini quests inthegame if you play EVERY type of class and or Race combination.

I remeber looking through some of the quest code of the original OC and there where several quests that can only be taken in crazy and obscure situations. I think one of them was the party LEADER had to be a "Barbarian" and have 25% more experience points then anyone in the party before the option would show up in a conversation (?!?). I'm sure that quest was activated several or even dozens of times total amoung the millions of players who ran through it! Granted everyone I know plays (or at least tried until HouT) the OC multiplayer in a group and a solo barbarian would find that quest but STILL thats one class in how many?

If the standard player isn't running into at least the majoriity of the side quests in "normal" run of the game, then nay I say that the Module Developers are wasting a lot of time on obscurity.

I agree with DrDread, despite the fact that I didn't quite understand what he was ultimately getting at. The game needs fewer greatswords and more boots!

Spoiler-ish.

I can't remember the first Nasher item I picked up, but I do remember picking up the ring from the drow wizard merchant in Chapter 2. I like the special effect that happens when you equip all of the items (and de-equip)...but they weren't useful to the first character I used to play through HotU (Ftr 12/Rog 11/Shadowdancer 5). For someone who starts off at level 15 and slowly builds their way up, it may be more beneficial, especially if you make a character from scratch...

...but then the gold could come in handy...every piece counts...sheesh!

Whoa Excellent stuff. I also wondered what was that Hero fighting a minotaur in introduction. I join in plead to wighten this story. But I disagree to pay for it I'm sorry but I'm not a US, Canada citizen. In my country credit cards aren't popular. (We aren't insane enough to buy for a credit and than pay for it half of our lives.)

As for those items. Hmm. Interesting but I've got more "interesting" pieces in my mind. Maybe if there would be another Expansion we could find pieces of equipment of other great Heroes?

Don't you find it a little odd that they call it a "mini-quest in Chapters 1 and 2 of [HotU]" yet all the items are acquired in Chapter 2? Didn't anyone read what was written before it was posted?

Just a thought...
