It is rumored that the magical powers of sorcerers and bards are somehow connected to the presence of dragon blood in their family tree. Red Dragon Disciples are sorcerers, and sometimes bards, who use their magical power as a catalyst to ignite their red dragon blood, and are one of 6 new Prestige Classes in Hordes of the Underdark!

Ah, this is owerpowered, just as the pale master.. d12 every level..?? Sure is good they dont gain additional spells at least..!

So I believe it was said that the RDD Wings could be added to NPCs as an effect, yes? Or does it require actually giving them 9 levels in RDD?

Why, oh WHY a sorc/bard class? The boni is SO geared for a fighter! Actually, Fighter X / bard 1 / RDD 16 doesn't seem to bad. I'm gonna make me one!

I've played one of these in pnp. They aren't overpowered, unless you start off with really high stats in the first place. They are fun to roleplay, not hard. And I think they do have a little tiny bit of spell progression, bonus spells or somesuch. |

This class only has value in terms of roleplaying. Since you don't continue progressing with bonus spells(aside from a few that may be gained from the charisma bonus), you sort of shoot yourself in the foot. Your hit dice are only increased when taking levels in that class, so it's nothing special(you could go barbarian instead if you want the d12). The wings are strictly for show and the almighty fire breath has one use per day. The only real bonus I can find is gaining some immunities, but 90% of the modules I play on offer items that grant these immunities already. And nothing is stopping you from creating these items for local servers. In conclusion, your character will be nice to look at, even with your wings poking out of your frequented grave. |
