Thank you to eliandi and the folks at Neverwinter Connections for organizing this sure-to-be rewarding event and to Bioware for making it possible. Yay!

An example NWCon Highlight Game:

KEEPERS OF THE FLAME
BY ARAWEN
PRESENTED BY CHIMERA

You are Keepers of the Flame, members of a secret society devoted to the welfare of the city of Dol Agath.

Introduced by a relative or friend, you have entered a sworn brotherhood to the cause of helping your fellow citizens.

Recently, shadows of dead who have been slain unjustly have appeared in great numbers, whispering that your city is cursed.

Now citizens everywhere fear the dark. Further, the Queen lately has seemed enthralled with magic and powerless to find the shadows' source.

To protect the people, the Keepers feel that action is necessary. However, unofficial meddling with curses is illegal. Without being detected, you must discover the curse's origin and end it.

In Dol Agath, where magic is used for everything from laundry to walking the dog, trying to undo a curse can cause a lot of trouble...

****

This roleplaying one shot runs within a city soundstage and is brought to life entirely by the DMs.

Expect a game where events and NPCs will react dynamically to your actions, and where you can think outside the NWN engine to play in a pen and paper RPG style of NWN.

There are no scripted events, NPCs or encounters, so we ask players stay together during the game.

A NWCon Feature Module, running several times during the week:

NWCon Feature: Shrine of the Eth’barat

A Neverwinter Nights Module for Level 3 Characters By Ken “Lazybones” McDonald

All in all, 1374, what the bards are calling the Year of Lightning Storms, has been a sour year.

The details--well, who wants another sob story? The bottom line is, you're broke, bored, and alone. None of those is a good state for those who call themselves "adventurers," but all three together is a recipe for trouble. The caravans aren't hiring, the local monsters seem to be taking a vacation, and peace lies over the land like a smothering blanket.

And so you are here, standing in a steady rain, facing the doorway of the tavern called the Drunken Cleric. In your hand is a scrap of parchment torn from a handbill, the inked letters already running from the damp. But you don't need to see the message again; all that waits is a decision.

The wizard Tarthas is well-known along the Sword Coast, and here in Daggerford. He's reputable, at least as far as such can be said for his kind, and powerful. Apparently he's got more than a few gold coins to rub together, at least from the size of the reward he's offering for the errand detailed--spottily--on the paper.

It's a standard mission, the sort with which you are not unfamiliar. You have never heard of this "Shrine of the Eth'barat," and the writing about "ancient cults" and "secret knowledge" mean little to you. But the line about the gold speaks volumes to you, and fetching a magic item for a wizard--that's something you can understand.

The rain's starting to work its way into your cloak. Your decision made, you head inside.

* * * * *

"Shrine of the Eth'barat" is a one-shot, quest-based adventure for 4-6 characters. The game emphasizes traps, puzzles, and tactical challenges. Though there is plenty of combat, people who apply expecting a hack-fest will be disappointed.

I haven't tried an online game in a long time and was considering trying one out over the NWCon. I will be making a new account there, though. Will this count against me getting in, do you think?

One of the reasons we organized this event was to get new people involved in online games, so the NWC community and DMs are seeking players such as yourself. When I just checked, there were many many slots still open. Let me or any of the organizers know if you need help, or can't find what you are looking for.

I have signed up for a few games myself.

I am looking forward to it as well. A few of us have been discussing which games we would like to participate in - I think this is a good opportunity for me to try my hand at DMing again - should be a great time!

The more BioFolk involved the merrier!

That goes for everyone else too!

On behalf of everyone involved with NWCon I'd like to thank BioWare for their support in this venture, but most of all eliandi for really getting a head of steam up, and helping take NWCon from basic idea to happening reality in less than 2 months.

So is this why Bioware pushed back the date of the release of HOU?
