There is no denying the fact that, however mighty you think you are, the diminutive Azer walk around with their heads on fire! The Azer is one of 16 new creatures in Hordes of the Underdark.

It mentions getting up in the morning, inventing the flush toilet, penicillin, etc. What happens when they get the flue? Somehow I don't think, drink plenty of liquids and get a lot of rest are what the doctor ordered?
It definitely presents a challenge though.Edited By Winlok on 10/15/03 17:52 |

From my old PnP I rembember Azers as a peaceful, gem mining dwarven subrace from a fire plane - they don't meet at all with the screenshots

That was probably the funniest creature description I've read. Kudos to the writer for almost making me spew coke all over my monitor. Didn't notice any spelling or grammar errors either. "Holy cow my head is on fire!" -chuckles- _________________ Some o' my Creations |

I'll second that, hilareous! I just woke up and I think I can skip the coffee-wake-me-up part. Ok, Ok, I confess, I'm not a coffee person.

Well dwarves were always kinda weird, who could it surprise that some replace their mighty facial fur with living flame? Maybe they just caught fire one day and never stopped burning. _________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are small, crunchy and taste good with ketchup.Edited By TEMPEST on 10/15/03 20:44 |

So, the live team roadmap says to check back for new stuff by the end of August. I assume that was 2003? Seriously, is there a plan to release new creatures/content as part of the live team updates, as with before SoU? And is anyone assigned to keep that page updated? |

Yeah, what's up with the road map? At least give us a witty paragraph describing the cretures on the road map... _________________ Conan! What is best in life? "Crush your enemy - see them driven before you... and to hear the lamentation of their women." |

Yup- this has touched off a discussion of the road map. Should have some more details as to what direction we are heading with that before the end of the week... |

both of the new creatures - Azer and Harpy - look great, i love the designs, but...
is it just me, or are these creatures a bit puny for the new expansion, where i believe all PCs begin at experience level 15?
harpies CR: 5 azer CR: 2
and what is the challenge rating of the average PC, like 20?
perhaps we'll be fighting more difficult versions, like harpy/azer mages, priests, etc. - or maybe (as another suggested) the azer aren't necessarily *hostile*.
and oh yeah: more applause for the writer of the Azer's description. as CBG would say, "best creature description EVER." |

Azers advance by character level so just make a Azer Ftr30 (probably CR 31 due to ECL). Or make an azer dwarven defender Ouch. Or a Lawful Evil blackguard of Imix. Hmmm.
Same goes for a harpy except her ECL is +3. Both of these will be useful in converting ToEE. Ta very much Bioware _________________ To battle! Strength and honour! |
