Last night Neverwinter Stratics hosted a House of Commons chat where several loose-lipped BioWarians discussed the upcoming Hordes of the Underdark expansion with the community. You can *head* over to chat log here, which is worth a read as it contains many interesting tidbits about Hordes of the Underdark, including several features that have not previously been discussed!

"Question from *Illustre* Will the system requirements go up due to the graphical additions/improvements in HotU?
BioWare Response BioTrent Yes.
attriel You guys are killing me, here, with these one word answers; FYI
BioTrent Given the increase in tileset polygon count the minimum system requirement will go up slightly.
We aren't asking for the moon in terms of hardware, but HotU will require slightly better hardware than the original game"
Any word as to what the minimum system requirmetns will be yet? _________________ Fear the beavers! They're coming! They may just be little woodland creatures, but they're lethal! They'll be visiting a forest nearest you soon so run while you can!Edited By BlackHydra on 09/24/03 18:57 |

dude here,
long time d+d and nwn player, first time writer.
i was wondering,; i checked out yesterdays chat log. someone metioned the idea of making extra quickslots by programing them to left ctrl, right ctrl, left shift, right shift. yall said that was a tad bit difficult.
i pondered a sec and thought would it be possible to set the game to have another set of quickslots appear if caps lock is active.
this could be useful area changes, being that someone could certian items in one area and another set in a differant one.
the dude
p.s. what's this crap about beavers |

dude's question re. *more quickslots* isn't the first i've heard by fans of NWN.
so far i haven't read any confirmation by the bioware team if they're planning on addressing this issue.
certainly anyone who has played a multi-class spellcaster, such as cleric/sorceror, knows how quickly u can run out of quickbar slots 4 your spells.
and the alternative to putting spells in your quickbar slots, i.e. using the radial menu, is too time-consuming for a CRPG that has no Auto-Pause fuction.
w/ that concern voiced, gotta say i'm totally stoked for Hordes, with its epic levels and new spells/abilities.. can't wait for november to roll around..

i have no problem with using the radial in combat, i know where the spells are for the character i play.. ok so i have had 2-9 months of getting used to where the said spells are.
it's nice to see that druids are getting some new stuff, though I doubt it will be the low power animals already in the game which can be added via hak, and could be added by bioware very easily, its a days work.. if that.. (hell, its data entry, a trained monkey could do it, wouldnt require too much testing either) and would make a lot of us happy. The things i speak of are grizzly bears (using the kodiak appearance), polar bears, black bears, all of the different cats (jaguar lion crag cat and so on), raven, hawk/eagle, deer & white stag, ox, bat, rat, dire rat, dog, and all the rest that I have forgotten or that have been added since.
I do not mean this from a powerplayer perspective, hell, i would be asking for gray renders and similar if i was.. I'm not even complaining about the change of wildshape'd animal stats that was sneaked in without telling us in a previous patch. Simply to be able to turn into a bird or the others from the above, would be great for the folk who bother to rp a druid out there, rather than slapping on a fighter level and some fullplate, and going for some l33t 0wnage of everything nearby..
Having the voicsets change with a polymorph would be an excellent addition for a patch/expansion aswell. |

Why didn't they include the Contingency, Chain Contingency, and the various Spell Trigger spells from BG2 into the Neverwinter spell list? |

Contingency is definitely needed. What I would actually like to see is a way to chain cast spells after resting so long as rest conditions are still in effect. It just takes forever waiting to cast all the buffs and if you have to rest often it is a huge time waster. Obviously this could only be implemented for self buffs, but it would still make the game much faster paced. |

I agree with the proposal of adding new quickslots (lots, lots, lots of new quickslots). It would also be nice to see the contigency spells (:evillol: haha the arcane spellcasters would once again rule like in BG2). I also have a question to the Bioware guys: Why can't you upload that Elven Wizard portrait I really like it and the available elven portraits are...medium... |

"Darcy Pajak - The biggest new gameplay element is the addition of a second henchman. Now the player can take two companions with them as they journey through Undermountain to the Underdark. This adds a great deal of flexibility in gameplay style; for instance, the player can be a mage who rarely gets into hand-to-hand combat, as the two henchmen can intercept any incoming attackers and engage them in melee combat." Six companions are still better than two, so it's nice try BioWare but not enough for me. I'm not going to exchange old good BG2 for HoU - maybe next expansion ? |
