I've heard a lot about the "pantaloons" -- what the heck are they, and where can I find theM? (I'm in either Chapter 4 or 5; haven't reached Baldur's Gate yet).
Second question: how exactly to I get to the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion? Can I just jump into the expansion pack without finishing the game, or do I need (or should) to pass BG first? Ack, so confusing, and the manual doesn't help, either... |

The Gold Pantaloon can be found in the upper floor of the Friendly Arms Inn. A nobleman will mistaken u for a servant n give u the 'underwear' to be cleaned.
There's 2 more 'underwear'. A Silver pantaloon in BG2(SoA) n a Bronze pantelette in BG2x (ToB), with all 3 'underwear' u can make a suit of armor n some other minor items. The armor is the best in the game for a 'fighter' type, but u can't get it until close to the end of the game. U don't need the armor to win ToB, but the description is hilarious, as well as the dialogue in getting the bronze pantalette.
If u haven't installed ToSC then u *might* consider completing BG n then install ToSC, do the new areas n then return to re-play the 'final battle', but IMO it's not worth the trouble since the difference is very minor n depending on the character(s) you're playing, the 'final battle' is in fact easier with ToSC installed.
If u already installed ToSC, then it's better to complete ToSC *before* u start chapter 7 since the end of chapter 7 is the end of the game. You're probably in chapter 4, since u can enter BG city in chapter 5. Perhaps the best time to do ToSC is right after chapter 6, since u would have gotten all the nice items in BG except for 1 short sword n your group should be at full strength. The BG story line will certainly 'flow' better if u complete ToSC before the end of BG. |

TotSC is worth the installation and the trouble of playing. On my last run through BG1 (Elf mage), I did most of the quests and the expansion quests. BG1 has an 89,000 XP cap (lvl 7 mage at the end, start at this xp amount in SoA) and TotSC raises the cap to 161,000. When my mage hit 161,000 xp, I imported him to BG2:SoA. He was Level 9 and started out with 12 more hit points than at lvl7. The result? A good start running him solo in the first dungeon. _________________ Spearman beats tank |
