With all the buzz about Mass Effect lately since E3 and the announcement of it's release date, Dragon Age has been mostly ignored - both by dev's and forum-goers, it seems. And with Mass Effect coming out soon, I'm very glad to be a proud owner of an Xbox 360 (not bad for a 20 year old university student.)

However, this also means that attention will soon switch over to Dragon Age! DA fans, rejoice!!

It means the ME hype will die down sometime after Christmas. I'm just guessing here, but I expect the opening round of the DA media blitz to begin in early 2008 with the announcement of a publisher, followed by a flurry of info, then a steady trickle, then a slowing down to a crawl right before the final push in late 2009/early 2010. I base this soley on ME. I must admit, for a game I know so little about, I'm very intrigued. Probably because it's made by Bioware.

Also, I wonder how this will mix with the opening hype for ME2.

Incredible, the length if time that Dragon Age will have been under developement. Who knows how much must be accomplished by now, and then by, say, Jan 2008? Surely we'll have some exciting new news by then, but I can't help but have my fingers crossed for before then.

I'm sticking with the late 2008 release.

I agree with that, they've been working on DA much longer than ME.

ah, the always dilemma of wanting them to hurry up and give em my game and wanting them to make it as good as possible

right now I'm so tired off all rushed games filled with buggs and issues when they could have been good games

so I just hope Bioware take the time they need

How do you get that? When Dragon Age was announced as E3 in 2004 it was only being worked on by a handful of people and was in the early concepting stage still. Full-scale production probably didn't start until later that year if not 2005. Considering that NWN took 5 years to develop, the development time shouldn't be all that surprising -- especially considering that it's a game with a new engine.

If there's anything that's remarkable it's the amount of time that Dragon Age has been public. We don't usually announce a game so early, but the reasons we did so have been mentioned before many times. Even so, please don't get confused about the amount of time that you've known about the game and the amount of time it's been in development.

I'm not sure how this is something to rejoice over. Are there benefits to this?

BioWare has been giving DA attention for several years now. As for this other attention you speak of, I've been to the ME forums, and whatever they've got, I don't want.

More information on the NPC characters, classes, Ferelden in general, gameplay feel, skill distribution vs. class trees, and such.

We'll see if the trade off is worthwhile. Forums always get a little wild and hairy as things get closer to release, and it can be as trying on the patience as waiting three plus years for solid news.

That might happen. But the marketing department decides what info will be release, not the developers. Moreover, an onslaught of new posters might cause the devs to flee into their burrows.

Instead, we should give them absolutely no attention for a few months. Then, they'll be so eager for affection that they'll be bursting with information. We could quiz David on the romance options, and he'd answer us!

I don't think we have the iron will required. They're just too adorable to ignore.

Breaks self imposed exile to make a statement...

Sheesh! Really. If David Gaider is the resident Bioware Love God....I mean "romantic"....then appeal to his sense of romance to get some romantic questions answered. There is your strategy.
