I can't help it. I will always play a 'good' character. It seems as the real world around me grows darker that I peg more good every time I roll a new game. Paladins and Good Fighters are my mainstay.
Does anybody else roll this way? |

I don't like playing goody two shoes, I always go for neutral Chaotic, or True Neutral if i can. But the thing is i tend to do all the quests and explore every little corner of fearun. And atleast 90% of all the quests, require you to be a goody two shoe. If you want the most experience in the game, You will have to pick that road.
Hell when i play NwN1 where your aligment changes depending on your quests and actions. I start with Chaotic Neutral and end up with Chaotic Good! Purely because i want the most experience possible and to do all the quests!
I can roleplay evil, But i can't play the game as evil. Because then i'm going to miss out on so much, and i really can't stand that. It really does suck |

It is a pity indeed that evil parties get worse rewards... Not to mention prices in stores... but it makes for a challenging game if you've already played the game with goody-two-shoesness a few times. And the evil NPCs are the best you can get |

Yeah, I'm playing evil for the first time right now just to see the difference (I've never sided with Bodhi so I wanted to see what was different). I just tanked my rep by two points for a completely useless (to me) item: silver pantaloons. Since I don't own BG1, they are completely useless. But I couldn't roleplay evil and not do the ransom... |

I usually play it as I would do IRL, which means I mostly do the "good" things.
It also means I avoid confrontation whenever it's possible |

You could roleplay evil and kill the wench Or just, you know, don't care. "I'm free?" "Yeah, yeah, whatever, get out of my face."
Anyway, what I mean is, there's lots of evil, not just Evil. Even in BG. |

/agree Evil isn't just profiteering. I roleplay evil characters who are ruthless, but still see the power of the masses, and try to keep in good favour. Opportunity breeds itself.

Oh, I agree as well. In fact, my PC is very conscious of his reputation and tries to not let it get below 9. It was high enough that he calculated he could manage the ransom, however, although he expected to get something USEFUL out of taking the hit.
And even though he picked up Anomen with the idea of deliberately corrupting him, he didn't expect Anomen to throw himself into murder with such gusto that it took ANOTHER two points off of his reputation quite so soon.
So now he will have to do some good deeds to build his carefully crafted reputation back up; he's off to fix the problems of the Umar Hills (and will sit on anyone who demands that he order the mayor to pay him more than he's willing to freely give). |

I only play good and neutral. I tried evil but am disgusted of it pretty quick. I do love the evil NPCs though.
I don't know why but i have a thing for paladins and lawful neutral mages. And i'm not that lawful in RL. |

The problem with evil in BG series is that it is not profitable enough. So generally even evil characters will want to do good just for personal gain. It is a major problem I think.
But personally it has not been an issue for me since I always play a good character too. |

That's me.
I played the series once as an evil character and enjoyed giving the 'jerk' responses in dialog. My party was different, and I made some choices I avoid as a 'good' character (like participating in blackmail). It was fun.
But it didn't feel like 'me' going through the story. Put a mustache on Dudley Do-Right, and he's still Dudley Do-Right. |

The best reason to play good is the Upgraded AzureEdge. A negative Plan Protected +4 throwing axe that does unbelievable damage to undead if they somehow make the save and not die. _________________ "You aren't figments, are you? I'm not wasting any more time talking to figments!" Dradeel |

AFAIK, you can't upgrade Azuredge in the vanilla game, though. |

You are correct. I limit myself to only two (any two) items from the Item Upgrade mod. _________________ "Don't touch me, I'm super important!" Thalantyr |
