This is a nitpick rant.
I've recently noticed that sometimes the music for a particular area doesn't start up when I enter. But if I quicksave, then the music starts up after I save.
And in Baldurs Gate 2 (I'm only playing the demo, maybe its fixed in full game?) when the battle music starts, it doesn't stop unless I go into some menu and exit out again. And in that case, it changes abruptly back to the normal music. |

If you've got the 5+1 or 4-in-1 sets have you downloaded and installed the patch? |

I have the 5 + 1 set. I did a full install of BG and TotSC. It is patched to 1.3.5521 and I downloaded the DX8 patch and extracted the file called Bgmain2 to the bg folder.
however it wasn't clean and straightforward. I installed bg, then patched, then ToSC, then patched to something slightly older than 135521, then 135521, then DX8 patch. I think.Edited By Makatak on 11/04/09 21:10 |

I would recommend a reinstall. Installing patches in the wrong order can cause all sorts of problems. If you have TotSC, you don't need the patch for vanilla BG1. The correct order would be BG1 -> TotSC -> TotSC patch and then maybe the DX8 patch, if you really need it. I've never used it myself, but AFAIK, you should only install it if you have a specific technical issue that it addresses. |

I might try that later. But I hope my save games will still work. |

Have you got environmental audio enabled in the game. Load a game then go to options and sound, disable ea if it is highlighted.
Secondly, I don't think you need the directX patch. directX is used for sound amongst other things and the patch is for an outdated version so it may be introducing other issues. |

env. sound is already disabled, but it doesn't make a difference either way. |
