I'm pretty sure Scott recognised the line as a Star Wars quote (seeing how he responded with another pop culture quote). It's just that since quoting Star Wars stopped being funny in and of itself a while ago, one might assume that Nighteye also meant it. _________________ "Well done, android. I don't see why there can't be both. A great and engaging story with replayability but also a toolset. |

I can't even put it into words. So depressing. _________________ "What!? Boo is outraged! See his fury! It's small, so look close. Trust me, it's there." --Minsc "I cannot be caged! I cannot be controlled! Understand this as you die, ever pathetic, ever fools!" --Jon Irenicus |

I'm curious. For what reasons would a game company not release their toolset? Some standard of quality that the toolset doesn't meet? Not wanting to have to support it at all? _________________ A gnome lost is hardly as bad as a gnome squared.Edited By Ranlas on 12/17/07 15:47 |

Not wanting to have to support it at all? If you're going to put a toolset out there, you want it in a shape so that it would be useable by the general public. And, yes, it would have to be supported. Since the focus of DA is not on having a toolset, it's not going to get as much attention as the game itself is getting -- but that's not to say that we don't want to put it out there. Just that it's too early for us at the moment to judge when & how. _________________ Zevran: "Hello my stocky little friend!" Oghren: "Huh. You got small breasts for a gal." Zevran: "Ah. I understand if you don't want to give support for toolset, but for goodness sake can't you just put it in some secret, hidden place and give out the url in some abstract puzzle...
Why witheld it, it's not like it would hurt your sales to have some community made modifications avaible, even if the editor itself isn't usable by the general public... |

Because people WOULD demand support for it if it was officially released, whether from a hidden URL or no. They would. And support costs money, both by the developer and by the frequently unwilling publisher. And if they refused to offer support, they would get ripped into hither and yon.
It's not that they definitely should not release it, but there are reasons. |

Err... did we say we would withhold it? You're not talking to a company that doesn't know the value of a modding community, after all. All I'm saying is that whenever we put it out, it's going to work. If we really decide not to put the toolset out there, it's probably because it wouldn't benefit anyone -- not even hidden away secretly somewhere. _________________ Zevran: "Hello my stocky little friend!" The important thing for EVERYONE to remember here is that everything is still in the works and no decisions have been made yet. So don't get over emotional one way or the other as nothing has been set in stone regarding toolset, support, release, etc, yet.
When we do have news about Dragon Age and/or a toolset for DA, we'll make it known. Stay tuned.

Is multiplayer still planned? Is the DM client still planned?
I was browsing the compiled Bio posts at Dragon Age central and someone said that a DM tool would come with it, but it was a few years ago.
So even if the mod toolset is up in the air, might it still be possible to DM the game while friends make their way through the adventure? |
