Aye personally I hope the SWG fades into some black hole that Lucas never noticed and that Bioware comes up with an interesting new storyline that has no forgone conclusions that existing stories/licenses have.
The thing is Bioware has the talent to do their own story so why do we want that wasted on something like SWG anyway?

Our studio, BioWare Edmonton, is still firmly pursuing the development of our own intellectual properties as we have been for some time.
Our new sister studio, BioWare Austin, has yet to state what stance they will be taking. I would refrain from assuming anything, one way or the other, until they've released more information.

Because there would be a lot of cash to get from an improved SWG, and we all know that BioWare is all about making the big bucks!

I think it's been said that Bioware would not be working with LA again in the future on any more games. I don't care what the game is at this point, I just know I wanna beta test it. This is how all the hype about Vanguard Saga of heros started so I think they will drag on speculation for a while.   wake me up when we get there.Edited By Vanive on 03/22/06 19:36 | |

Bioware Announces Star Wars Galaxies, The Old Republic
Bioware announced today that an MMORPG is in the works based on the successful Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic series built off of the already successful title Star Wars Galaxies an Empire Divided produced by Sony Online Entertainment. The game will basically be a branch off of the first SW:G but set in the old republic era. There is currently no release date but they did give us the working title as Star Wars Galaxies :The Old Republic which seems fitting enough. Bioware’s new team of developers have been working very close with Sony Online Entertainments team at the Austin studio over the past few months to get the basic layout for the game underway. SOE will manage subscription and media distribution for the title and LAE and Bioware will be working on the design and implementation of the server and databases. Stay tuned for more info on this exciting release.

Right, but it looks like SOE may control distribution of media for Star Trek Online as well so they most be broadening their horizons a bit. I have this odd feeling that Lucas Arts can be a nightmare to deal with on some projects and it wouldn't surprise me if the NGE was their idea. Remember when SOE said they were waiting on approval from LAE for the new FRS for Jedi? Then we get the NGE. If you look at their other games none of them have had the type of problems that seem to plague SWG and for many reasons. At this point, I won't be putting any money into anything with SOE's name on it.
I just hope to find a new MMO, MMORPG, MM-whatever that I can get into by a company that isn't constantly mis-representing their intentions, is unresponsive to the point of deleting hundreds of threads that ask legitimate questions or bring up bugs, would lie about what time of day it was if asked, or misleading the community that pays their(the company's) bills every chance they get. Although it would be nice to have the old SWG back, let's face it, it's not going to happen so we might as well not dwell on it. Move on. It's a dead dog, or soon will be. JMHO | |
