Just a quick one!
My and some friends are starting a MP game of BG2 in the next week and we've been wondering:
Can we all have custom characters? Or do we need to take at least on of the main characters along (such as Korgan) for the plot to move on?
Thanks in advance. |

It is your choice. You can all play with custom characters or any of you can play or control one or more of the NPC's. When I play with friends, we usually take one of the NPCs that have quests, then drop them when their quest is over. If your protagonist has that portion of the Ease of Use mod installed, you have the option of leaving the NPC where you are when you drop him/her, or sending that NPC back to the Copper Coronet. You can actually play as twin characters if you like. So many options are available and your game should run normally with or without NPCs. You can also import TOB NPCs from the character file who will arrive in your party with super equipment and at levels 19 to 20. I sometimes import them early on just for their equipment, then dismiss them, although they are very strong. Good hunting. _________________ BS is the lubricant of human relations.

we start a multyply game, and we don't have any problem with it [BG: SoA full patched],we make our pg and start... BUT when i press the Clerical Spells button it doesn't work.. ONLY if i also press SHIFT I can see the spell list... same for the "ability-star button"[all class] and the Thief "searching Trap". Anyone can help us?!?! |

This is a strange one that I have not heard before. Be sure you both have SOA and TOB installed and the TOB patch downloaded. Also make sure you are Baldurdashed with the fixpack. Sorry I cannot be of more assistance. Good huntiung. _________________ BS is the lubricant of human relations.

My friends and I have a problem with starting a multiplayer game over the internet. I am on a normal internet connection without firewall (only a software one). My friend with his wife are in an LAN with an router connected to a cable modem.
Now, I can start a game and one of them can join it, but not both together. it just wont work. when they create the game I can join and will also see both of them. when the game starts both of them will be on the screen but I wont see one of them moving around or talking. he/she just stands there on my screen, even though he/she is actually doing something else. the other one runs around perfectly and I see exactly what he/she is doing.
Now I would really like to know if the network code of BG2 is limited so that multiple people on the same IP cant really connect to one game or if there is a configuration problem with their router/network.
thanks in advance!Edited By coolhand77 on 07/08/05 04:28 |

Sorry I cannot help you with this, but Kevin Lynch is very knowledgable about such things and will answer a PM if you cannot find your answer in Tech Support. Good hunting. |

Arg, nonono. Actually, I'm not very good with multiplayer setup at all (hence these multiplayer threads; didn't I say that before?). However, from what was said, it sounds like the router on their end is set up correctly for sending the info from one system but not the other, which would explain why you see only one character's action. Is it always the same person that you see moving or is it random (that would give you a clue)? What happens if you only connect with one of them on at the time? Does it work then? They will need port forwarding set up correctly on their router to get everything working smoothly. |

When I connect to them and they are both in the game its always the same one who isnt moving. I cant remember exactly, but when they connected to me seperately, I think it didnt matter matter who of them connected alone, it always worked with only one of them, but then we never entered the game.
Ill tell them to check their port forwarding. what where the ports that needed forwarding? and how exactly are they set up? UDP, TCP? |

There's some info in the BG2 readme.txt file regarding which ports are required, so check there for the exact ports. _________________ Well there ain't no point in moving on until you've got somewhere to go... |

Here's my problem. We are 4 friends trying to play bg2 with the darkest day on tcp/ip. We have all the same version of bg2 and tdd and all the same game configuration. All our firewall, antispyware and antivirus are disabled. When i create the game, the 3 other can't join When it's the second, nobody still can join when it's the third, nobody still can join and when it's the fourth, everybody can join but me!
Please Help me they are going to start playing without me Edited By xybtheskunk on 07/09/05 16:29 |
